Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a natural
form of Oriental body massage therapy. Shiatsu is based on the
principles of traditional Chinese medicine and has some similarity
to acupuncture. Shiatsu works by stimulating the bodys
vital energy flow in order to promote good health, restoring
the energetic balance of the body, releasing toxins, deep-rooted
muscular tension and stagnated energy (chi). Shiatsu affects
all levels of our being, physical, emotional, psychological
and spiritual.
Shiatsu can help
to relieve physical discomfort such as back pain, neck and shoulder
problems, muscular tension, menstrual problems, headaches and
migraine. Shiatsu is also particularly helpful for emotional
problems, anxiety, stress, panic attacks, depression, grief,
loss of confidence and many other conditions. It is also an
excellent way to relax.
On a more subtle
level, Shiatsu helps to relax and harmonise mind and body, it
can restore and balance energy, improve circulation, thus promoting
the bodys natural healing process, enhancing general well-being
and maintaining health.
A Shiatsu treatment
takes place through your clothing - ideally a loose, comfortable,
preferably cotton top and loose fitting trousers - eg. a jogging
tracksuit.
